Rewards are a Good Way to Eat Right and Lose Weight
When it comes to eating right and losing weight, you are challenging your mind and your body. Why not have some great rewards out there that you can really sink your teeth into? They can help you to stay on track even when you are ready to throw in the towel or you hit a plateau in your efforts.
Think about some things you really want and them write them down as a rewards program. Try not to reward yourself with food though because that is self sabotage on some level. Try to have some type of weekly reward for yourself if you eat well all week and you exercise like you said you would. This could be getting a pedicure, reading a book, watching a movie, or even a day on the weekend where you stay in your pajamas all day long.
Have monthly goals in place that allow you to get a higher level of reward if you have been consistent with your efforts all month. This could be going to a movie, shopping with friends, to see a play, or even for a nice ride in the mountains to enjoy the landscaping. The key is to identify rewards that you will be happy with. What you want as a reward can be very different from someone else.
If you want to lose 50 or 60 pounds, it can take you a year or so to make it happen. Why not play a fantastic vacation around that time? Go somewhere new and exciting that you have always wanted to go. That can be your ultimate reward for working so hard and getting the weight off. By then, your eating habits and your exercise routine will be second nature and you will be able to keep the weight off.
It takes time, effort, and sacrifice to be able to eat right and to lose weight. Those rewards you put out there can be the carrot that keeps you moving forward toward that ultimate goal. Since you work so hard to earn those rewards, you should never feel guilty for taking part in them.
