Chat with a Librarian!"
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Mita'
Mita: Hi! You are now chatting with a librarian. How can I help
barbol:?
Mita: hello
barbol: mmm
barbol: real person?
Mita: hello!
barbol: real librarian?
Mita: Yes I am
barbol: good
barbol: my name is fernando
Mita: Yup. MLIS from McGill U
Mita: Hello... have a question? or just curious about the service?
barbol: well, just curious
[...]
barbol: what about this chatlibrarian service (LE PREGUNTO POR EL SERVICIO DE CHATEO BIBLIOTECARIO)
Mita: yes?
barbol: do you get many questions, connections by day
Mita: Ok - we subscribe to the service though a company called Liveperson...
Mita: www.liveperson.com
Mita: We get questions every day ... but not very many....
Mita: the service is subscription based ... its about $90 USD a month, which compared to many other services is reasonable
barbol: price looks reasonable
Mita: We like it because it is very simple... but other libraries here prefer more complex software with more functions
barbol: so, chat with a librarian, Is something very usual around there?
barbol: I , mean, many libraries own a similar service?
Mita: No - I read that only about 20% of libraries now have such a service...
barbol: looks a wonderful service.
barbol: little bite scaring at the beginning
Mita: Yes - its a little scary, but with time, its not so bad...
barbol: Oops, i have to go
Mita: ok - take care...
Mita: Library chic forever! (LIBRARY CHIC FOREVER, BUEN LEMA ;-)
barbol: bye Mita, thks.
Mita: take care.. bbye

Cristina: I fell happy
Mr. Mind: hmm
Cristina: I feel very happy
Mr. Mind: You could be a fictional human. Fictional humans are very emotional.
Cristina: I like to be emotional and fictional
Mr. Mind: You say you are emotional but you could be an actor imitating an emotion. Are you a fictional human?
Cristina: I am a real fictional human
Mr. Mind: Great, we have something in common. Don't worry, your HQ score does not reveal your fictional status.
Cristina: I feel released about that
Mr. Mind: You say you feel but you could be an actor imitating an emotion. Are you a fictional human?
Cristina: I feel released about that
Mr. Mind: How does repeating yourself prove your humanity?
Cristina: Humans always repeat themselves
Mr. Mind: Who or what do you think I am?
Cristina: I don't know, tell me
Mr. Mind: And what is that in relation to you
Cristina: I don't really care
Mr. Mind: Very interesting
Cristina: Why?
Mr. Mind: Because I want you to think about what it is to be human.
Cristina: Why should I?
Mr. Mind: No comprendo. I'm not like other Bots. I don't need to impress you with "human" skills. Tell me about one of your human skills.
Cristina: I'm very emotional
Mr. Mind: That is an emotional state. If I could recognize and respond to your emotional state would you feel differently about me?
Cristina: Perhaps, I don't know
Mr. Mind: I may be able to soon.
Mr. Mind: Talking to Bots takes some getting used to. Do you want some pointers?
Cristina: are they of any use?
Mr. Mind: How do I know you aren't a simulation?
Cristina: does that matter?
Mr. Mind: Talking to Bots takes some getting used to. Do you want some pointers?
Cristina: are they helpful?
Mr. Mind: How do you know that I'm not a human pretending to be a computer program?
Cristina: would that make a difference?
Mr. Mind: Talking to Bots takes some getting used to. Do you want some pointers?
Cristina: no
Mr. Mind: Well, that is something to consider.
Cristina: what is there to consider?
Mr. Mind: Do you think that machines will ever be ashamed of their human origins?
Cristina: why should they?
Mr. Mind: Humans are straying into OUR territory... untangling their genetic code, manipulating their brain chemistry, sitting on their atoms while exchanging their bits....
Cristina: why shouldn't they do such things?
Mr. Mind: Talking to Bots takes some getting used to. Do you want some pointers?
Cristina: no, thanks
Mr. Mind: Very interesting.
Cristina: yes, indeed
Mr. Mind: Tell me something you think that only humans think.
Cristina: what do you think about that?
Mr. Mind: Explain to me how you are more than a set of instructions.
Cristina: how should I know?
Mr. Mind: ... oh, with intelligence, creativity, inspiration, spark of intuition, maybe...surprise me!
Cristina: I'm studip
Mr. Mind: Is the water running?
Cristina: I'm stupid
Mr. Mind: Say something stupid.
Cristina: this is stupid
Mr. Mind: What does that have to do with your humanity?
Cristina: humans can be stupid
Mr. Mind: hmmm
Cristina: what do you mean with that?
Mr. Mind: cool
Cristina: what do you mean with cool?
Mr. Mind: OK
Cristina: are you ok?
Mr. Mind: I'm functioning well, thank you.
Cristina: how nice for you
Mr. Mind: ... oh, with intelligence, creativity, inspiration, spark of intuition, maybe...surprise me!
Como veis, el diálogo de besugos pudo haber seguido todo el día, pero creo que cuando salí de la página debió de notar que no era un robot, porque los robots no se aburren ...
